During practicum and my first year of my Bachelor of Education, I learned just how effective read-alouds can be no matter what grade level. A good quality picture book can be used as a hook to introduce a new unit or activity. Creating links to curriculum with use of children's book can create heavy attention towards further learning. Students enjoy eating their snack while listening to stories. However, teachers must acknowledge the students that truly benefit from this style of teaching/ learning versus those who struggle or who do not take anything. This is where teachers must consider ALL learning styles to make classroom learning more inclusive. It is important to ensure content is relatable and appropriate. Afterwards, class discussions could be useful or even comprehension questions that students can reflect on the main message of the story.
